  • Conduct a field study of teacher capacity and expertise related to braille and Kenyan Sign Language (KSL) instruction
  • Support the development of a written report on this field study
  • Coordinate with Curriculum Support Officers (CSOs), Education Assessment and Research Centers (EARCs), and other government personnel and institutions to develop an evidence-based screening and referral approach for students with possible disabilities
  • Collaborate closely with KPLP staff, including those working on remediation and community-based learning, to execute a screening and referral approach linked with response to intervention methods
  • Develop and deliver training to master trainers and staff at EARCs related to conducting screening assessments for students with possible disabilities, and linkages to referrals for specialized services
  • Produce or revise training on the use of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for students with possible disabilities and roll out this training to identified stakeholders
  • In coordination with EARCs, monitor and support the use of IEPs by teachers and other school-based staff in target schools
  • Work closely with the MEL team to ensure that disability inclusion considerations are reflected in all MEL plans and activities
  • Ensure timely completion of contributions to quarterly and annual reports, KPLP communications, and regular correspondence with colleagues in the United States and Kenya
  • Develop the Inclusion Steering Committee and coordinate regularly with its members, including representatives of Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs)
